The Main Street Approach is a highly successful, grassroots, community-driven comprehensive methodology used to revitalize traditional downtown districts throughout the United States developed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and administered by the Kentucky Heritage Council. It is a common-sense way to address the variety of issues that face traditional business districts and help reverse downtown decline and re-establishes downtown as the community’s focal point and center of activity.

A group of dedicated and concerned community supporters have spent years building on the strengths of local efforts to re-imagine downtown Grayson, KY.  As early as 2015, members of this group became interested in a stronger focus on Main Street, following the philosophy that an economically viable "downtown" equals an economically healthy city as a whole. As an "Aspiring" Kentucky Main Street program, we are in the early stages of development at this point.  Once the application was made and approved to begin this journey, we worked together on many projects, from beautification to business development and hosting local events to attract both locals and tourists to the Grayson Main Street district.  There is much more in the works!
